Welcome to the first blog ever created to encourage responsible government in Liberty, Missouri. Liberty Forward was founded in 2007 to promote both fiscal responsibility in city government and the idea that government spending should be transparent and information should be easy for citizens to obtain and understand. City Responds To Article
Response
The general response from the city staff is that Liberty
Foward's concerns are valid. They appear to be making a good faith effort to dig into some of the concerns raised by Liberty's only watchdog group Liberty Forward.
Further discussion will occur and updates to these articles will be made here.
With respect to the concern about Proposition P and the remanding of money to the police department, it is possible the city made a good faith effort to discontinue a general fund subsidy to the community center and free up funds for the police department.
Though it is very difficult to track these types of transfers, and city staff seems to be opening their minds to why their accounting methodology of the past could have impeded transparency, it is important that we acknowledge that it is possible the Police department has received the funding we recently stated they may not have gotten.
It is important to note that there is a dialog and that you, the citizen, can make a difference by getting involved.
