Encyclopedia Missouri Municipal League

Editorial

Each year the city of
Liberty like many other cities creates some kind of legislative agenda to push with our elected officials. (Tim Flook, Luann Ridgeway & Sam Graves)

Documents obtained by Liberty Forward, your only citizen watchdog group, shows that the city's entire proposed legislative program was cut and pasted virtually word for word from the MML's (Missouri Municipal League) 2007-2008 Policy Statement.

The citizens of
Liberty deserve better. Whether you agree or disagree with the Legislative priorities it is almost impossible to argue that the citizens of this town don't deserve a more customized thought out approach to our needs.

28 of the 30 Items on the Cities Legislative Program were taken right off of the MML 2007-2008 Policy Statement.

Will the city council allow a left wing lobbyist group in Jefferson City that doesn't represent the broad opinions of their constituents set our legislative agenda? Ask the MML where it stands on eminent domain for economic development and higher taxes?

The lost art of copying the encyclopedia to write your book report as a kid has been revived by Liberty city staff!

Come on guys, we boast of having the best and the brightest, let's tap into that and discontinue the lazy practice of adopting the agenda of Jefferson City bureaucrats!

Thanks to you, the citizens for many responses and all the new traffic we have on the website. Hits this site are growing daily. We encourage you to keep sending your comments and ideas!!!
